WRAP COAT — Designer Style $628.00
Diane von Furstenberg “Mackenzie” Two-Tone Cozy Coat
In Diane von Furstenberg’s cozy coat for this season, an oversized shawl collar lends a sumptuous look and extra warmth to this asymmetrical and reversible wrap coat. We love the light grey/dark gray combination and the boldness of the wide trim as it alternates from dark trim on the collar to light trim everywhere else. The asymmetrical style adds even more intrigue and whimsy with its 40” front length and 34” back length (size Medium). The wool/polyester blend is water-resistant with side-seam pockets and a removable belt. Cinch the belt and show off your waistline. Wear it over a chunky sweater and enhance your shoulders and chest. $628.00.
WRAP COAT — Budget Style Under $200.00
Religion Victorious Wrap Coat
An on-trend beauty like this Religion Victorious Wrap Coat takes you anywhere you want to go in style. We love the casual elegance and versatility of the robe style interpreted with serious grey hues. Slip it on over a casual Fair Isle sweater dress and over-the-knee boots during the day. Then pair it with a cocktail dress and stilettos for a night out. Cinch the belt to show off your waistline. A great value for $170.55 on sale!
PLAID COATS — Designer Style
The iconic pattern is no longer just for kilts, lumberjack shirts and parochial school uniforms. Designers around the world showcased plaid’s amazing versatility for Fall 2014 as shown by this trio of coats: Left—the muted softness of an Isabel Marant cropped jacket. Middle—the dramatic pink and blue plaid of Delpozo’s belted coat. Right—the timeless elegance of Salvatore Ferragamo’s poncho in traditional plaid.
FEATURED DESIGNER: Delpozo Belted Cape-Effect Wool and Mohair-Blend Plaid Coat
We couldn’t take our eyes off this oversized coat! The boldness, the surprising pastel palette, the belted cape-effect style, the surprising cropped hemline in back—all wrapped up in the impossible softness of a richly textured mohair blend. We love everything about it. It’s easy to see why this statement coat was such a hit this season. $3,450.00
Tip: When dressing for your female body type, remember that big, bright plaids will make body areas appear larger while small plaids in darker colors will make your body appear smaller.
PLAID COAT — Budget Style $149.00
Plaid Peplum Coat by Press
One of the features we like about this coat is that it isn’t a one-style-fits-all kind of coat. In true peplum style, Press has created a vibrant plaid coat that nips in at the waist and opens to a pleat-flared skirt. The playful style enhances two specific body shapes—inverted triangle and the naturally balanced hourglass shape. If you are narrower on the bottom half and have wider shoulders, your female body type is Inverted triangle. The nipped-in waist and flared skirt will add volume to your hip area and create a pleasing hourglass effect. So stylish and well-made, it looks like it costs much more than $149.00.
Coach Hooded Textured-felt Duffle Coat
Outerwear was the star of Coach’s first ready-to-wear collection. This hooded duffle coat by Coach is bold, beautiful and detail-rich. First of all, we love the bright, bold red in a blended wool and alpaca fabric. The front features big toggles, pockets with leather trim and a concealed zip fastening. Additional touches are adjustable cuffs, drawstring waist and a cozy lining and hood to protect you from the elements. $1,395.00
DUFFLE COAT — Budget Style $142.00
ASOS Faux Fur Hooded Duffle Coat
Inspired by fashion’s hottest trends, London-based design team ASOS creates budget-pleasing fashions like this lovely updated duffle coat. Some of the features we love about this coat are the soft lavender textured wool-blend fabric, traditional toggle fastenings, cozy faux fur hood and big side pockets. When you add its morning-to-night versatility and incredibly low price tag, you have a great value at $142.00.
TRENCH COAT — Designer Style $1,795.00
Burberry London Trench Coat
Burberry’s signature trench coat comes with a long history. Over the past 150 years, Burberry has evolved from creating practical military coats for soldiers fighting in the WWI trenches to becoming an international designer of classically chic outerwear like this shower-proof Burberry London Trench Coat in camel cotton twill. $1,795.00
TRENCH COAT — Budget Style $97.99
DKNY Double Breasted Faux Leather-Trimmed Trench Coat
The timeless style of DKNY’s classic double-breasted trench coat comes with an edgy twist we love. The coat’s soft sand color is playfully accented with black faux-leather trim at the sash belt and under the collar. Nice touch! Plus it has all the accents you expect—double breasted front button closures with black buttons, slit pockets with decorative flap at hips, belted at waist with belt loops, lightweight cotton/polyester, fully lined and hip-length for versatility. Beauty and function for $97.99.
CAPE COAT — Designer Style $3,360
Gareth Pugh Hooded Leather-trimmed Wool Cape
Avant-garde British designer Gareth Pugh has a loyal following among pop celebrities like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. Although the young designer is known for outrageous evening wear, this elegant, black cape showcases his subtle side. This Italian-made hooded cape flares out from the padded shoulders to create a dramatic silhouette. We love how it looks with skinny pants! A closer look reveals the beauty of superior fabrics—100% virgin wool trimmed with 100% leather (lamb), lined in lustrous cotton and silk-blend. $3,360.00.
CAPE COAT — Budget Style $107.99
Via Spiga Faux Leather-trimmed Cape
Capes grabbed the spotlight on the Fall 2014 runways of many designers this season. On the budget side of the aisle, we discovered this stylish cape from Via Spiga. Glossy faux leather trims the dramatic slash of an asymmetrical zipper. Topped with a buttoned stand-collar, the cape is detailed with slant pockets functional buttons that create the armholes. Fully lined, Via Spiga’s creation can be worn with trousers or a dress on cool days and layered over your coat on days when temperatures plummet. We love this cape for its style, versatility and price tag of $107.99 on sale.
Faux Fur Coat
FAUX FUR COAT — Designer Style $995.00
Shrimps Striped Faux Fur Coat
London-based Hannah Weiland started Shrimps with the idea of making a Breton-striped faux fur coat. Her idea became a launching pad for high-energy coats like this “Wilma” style. When we first saw it, we wanted to slip it on and live in it for a while. The camel faux fur is accented by three bold turquoise bands, perfectly matched to the silky satin lining. The coat is closed securely with discrete hinged hook fastenings. $995.00.
FAUX FUR COAT — Budget Style $149.00
Powder Room Faux Fur Jacket
Australian-based Mink Pink keeps their clothing real and wearable and look to street style, high-end designers, current trends and vintage pieces for influence. Their garments are designed to work with your existing wardrobe, tastefully electrifying your individual style. We felt a bolt of energy when we first saw this fresh coral-pink faux fur jacket. Look how perfectly it wears with jeans and imagine pairing it with a turtleneck, miniskirt and over-the-knee boots! It’s a lot of style and impact for $149.00.
